Focus on Fibre: The DCMS Visit
by Wessex Internet Team
Back in September, we were visited by the government’s department of Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS). Their Gigabit Voucher scheme is now well underway, allowing us to provide ultrafast Fibre-To-The-Premises broadband connections to many rural locations in Dorset, Somerset & Wiltshire. With the help of their funding we’ve been able to provide Full Fibre broadband to over 200 properties since the scheme was announced back in April this year.
We’re committed to providing our broadband to some of the most rural locations across the Wessex Internet coverage area. this means we do things differently to most national providers and the DCMS team wanted to see just how we do it!
We’ve now laid over 500km of fibre optic cable across Somerset, Dorset & Wiltshire and with more than 20 community schemes currently in the pipeline, our construction team continues to expand, enabling us to roll out our ultrafast Full Fibre at a faster rate than ever before.
