Rural North Dorset firm boost global operations
by The Wessex Internet Team
Wessex Internet has connected JPL Telecom Ltd to a 100Mbps full fibre connection thanks to Project Gigabit; the government’s flagship programme to bring lightning-fast gigabit-capable broadband to hard-to-reach communities.
JPL Telecom Ltd, a British design and manufacturing business focused on innovation in the unified communications sector, are based in Todber, near Marnhull.
Todber is one of many rural villages in Dorset benefitting from the £6 million Project Gigabit North Dorset contract awarded to Wessex Internet in 2022 to connect more than 7,000 properties to the digital fast lane.
Established in 2004, JPL Telecom Ltd produces high-quality, competitively priced telecom headsets, webcams and video conferencing products, targeting global business-to-business markets in the UK, Europe, USA, and further afield.
JPL’s new connection can reach download speeds of up to 100Mbps, helping to improve productivity, efficiency and global operations.
Anna Dunning, personal assistant to directors at JPL said:
“Before we switched to Wessex Internet, we had many problems with only one or two people being able to be on a video call at a time. As video conferencing is what our business is about, it was embarrassing when calls would cut out. Our new connection has made a big difference for us; large files can be sent seamlessly, and video calls can run simultaneously without interruption.”
Hector Gibson Fleming, CEO of Wessex Internet said:
“Our primary focus is on delivering fast, reliable broadband to rural communities that may have been overlooked by other providers. As a local business embedded in the community, we take pride in contributing to the growth of fellow businesses across Dorset.”
