The inside story

Installation, Maintenance and Network Engineer
Dan really has walked in our customers’ shoes and knows first hand how frustrating poor broadband can be. When he became a Wessex Internet customer his connection to his home and farm was just 6Mbps and the difference it made to his life was “astounding.”
That’s why he joined us in 2017. He loves his job installing better internet for our customers and seeing the difference it makes for them. “It’s the reward for a fantastic job done by all in the Wessex Internet family,” explains Dan.
“It’s very exciting to see what we have achieved from when I started in 2017 to now, but how exciting it is going to be as we go forwards, expanding our network and customer base and supplying fantastic internet to all.”
HR & Office Manager
Millie is testament to the fact that your career can take on new directions at Wessex Internet. Starting in customer service, in just three years, Millie has progressed through a number of departments to now lead our HR & Office Team managing everything from HR to procurement, facilities and health and safety. To support her development she is studying for a CIPD Diploma in HR.
“We have a fantastic team of people that all work collaboratively towards achieving our goals. Once the week has drawn to a close, we often enjoy spending downtime together, whether that’s jumping off the cliffs at Lulworth, or a quick drink down the pub.”
2nd line Tech Support
Stefan has been part of our Tech team since October 2018 and has had many opportunities to learn and develop his skills.
Stefan has completed lots of training on technical areas including network administration, routing and switching, Mikrotik, VoIP and OSPF protocol. But it has mainly been his hands-on experience with the network that has enabled him to become a critical part of the tech team, often being the link between 2nd Line Tech Support, 3rd Line and the network core administration.

Civils/Construction Team Leader
Wessex Internet prides itself on quickly recognising talent and Charlie is a clear example. Just five months after joining the company as a member of the construction team in June 2020, he was promoted to team leader. Charlie is now team leader for our Mole Plough team. His team are out in the fields in all weather installing fibre with our largest plough, an incredible piece of kit which buries the fibre 750-900mm deep in agricultural soft terrain.
As well as enjoying being outside, Charlie enjoys working at Wessex Internet because of “the great atmosphere between everyone and the chance to develop new skills with training on things I haven't done before."
Community Projects Manager
Originally joining Wessex Internet in November 2017 as a Sales and Servicing Advisor, Alice was soon promoted to Fibre Sales Team Leader.
Then when a new community projects team was formed to support community champions and manage projects, Alice was the obvious person to head it up. To support her in her growing role Alice has received management training and is completing her Prince 2 Project Management Foundation Course.
“Working with communities and transforming their broadband infrastructure is very rewarding,” explains Alice. “I also enjoy the fact that as we’re growing fast no two days are the same.”
Customer Support Team Leader
Holly joined Wessex Internet in 2017 as a Sales and Servicing Advisor. Genuinely passionate about helping our customers, Holly was soon promoted to lead our team of customer service agents.
She now manages all of customer support from the friendly advisors on the phones, to 2nd and 3rd line tech support.
“I enjoy working for Wessex Internet because everyone shares the same dedication for their roles and the same passion for the business.,” says Holly. “Everyone has a voice. The management listen to our ideas, and we all work together to offer creative feedback and then make our ideas a reality. As a growing business, the job is always changing, so every day is different.”
