Preparing for your installation

To ensure you get the best WiFi coverage, we’ve put together a quick guide to help you select a suitable location to place your hub – which is responsible for transmitting the WiFi signal throughout your home - before we complete your installation.
Finding the perfect spot for your hub
• Usage: Place the hub where you use the internet the most, like the living room or home office.
• Height: Position it at eye level or higher for a stronger signal. Avoid hiding it in cabinets, and behind sofas.
• Interference: Keep it away from TVs, printers, or cordless phones to prevent signal interference.
• Central location: Place the hub centrally in your home for even coverage. Avoid corners and window sills.
Important considerations
• Both your hub and Optical Network Terminal (ONT) or Twist Port need their own power socket.
• The ONT or Twist Port should be mounted on a ground floor, outside facing wall where the fibre enters your property.
• If you have internal networking in your loft, we can install there if it is well lit and boarded.

Internal Networking
We don’t install internal networking, but we can recommend suppliers if you need to find a networker. Complete your Wessex Internet installation first, then plan your internal routing with your network provider. Total WiFi
For large homes or properties with thick stone walls, we recommend our Total WiFi service which will boost your signal with additional hubs for £4.50 per hub per month. Call our Sales team on 0333 240 7997 and select option 2 if you want to place an order.
Fibre Relocation
If you need to move your Wessex Internet connection point, please contact our Customer Support team and we will arrange to survey your property and the new location point. This survey will cost £80, and if we are able to move your ONT or Twist Port, we will supply you with a relocation quote.
