Everything you need to know about Static IP
FAQs:
Why is my public IP address changing?
We are making changes to our network that require your static public IP address to be updated. This is a planned change and is part of ongoing improvements to our network infrastructure.
What is a static public IP address?
A static public IP address is a unique address assigned to your internet connection that does not normally change. It may be used to remotely access devices or services at your premises, such as servers, CCTV systems, VPNs, or other business applications.
When will my IP address change?
Your current static public IP address will change on the date provided above between the hours of 08:00 - 17:30. We will aim to minimise any disruption during the change.
Will I lose my internet connection?
You may experience a brief interruption to your internet service while the change is made. Once the change is complete, your internet connection should resume normally.
Do I need to do anything?
If you do not use your static public IP address for any specific services or configurations, you should not need to do anything.
However, if you have configured equipment, applications or services to use your current IP address, you may need to update those settings to use your new IP address.
What might need to be updated?
You may need to update configurations for services such as:
VPN connections Remote access systems Firewalls or access-control rules CCTV or security systems Servers or hosted applications Remote desktop connections DNS records
Any third-party service that has your current IP address on an allowlist If you are unsure whether your setup uses your static IP address, we recommend contacting your IT support provider or the person responsible for managing your network.
Will my Wi-Fi password change?
No. Your Wi-Fi name and password will not be affected by this change.
What happens if I have services that rely on my current IP address? Those services may stop working until their configuration is updated to use your new IP address. If you operate business-critical services that rely on your current IP address, please ensure the relevant configurations are updated before or immediately after the change.
What if I don't know whether I use my static IP address?
If you're unsure, please contact your IT support provider or network administrator. They can check whether your current IP address is referenced by any systems or services.
What if I lose my internet connection and it doesn’t come back up?
