Connecting Lulworth Cove Heritage Centre
Lulworth Estate’s previous internet connection was extremely slow, especially when multiple users were on it. It took a long time to log in to remote systems and open individual documents and their internet dropped out unexpectedly or hung on many occasions.
If all staff members were trying to use it at once, there was no chance at all of having multiple applications open which was unsuitable for productive working.

Connecting Milton Abbas to full fibre broadband
Wessex Internet has long recognised the need to bring full fibre broadband to rural communities often overlooked by other providers due to the significant challenges and costs involved. Milton Abbas epitomises the type of rural area in which Wessex Internet excels. The village's unique historical significance and the community's expectation of minimal disruption presented some challenges.
The existing infrastructure in Milton Abbas was outdated, making the cost of an upgrade particularly excessive. Therefore, Wessex Internet engaged with villagers to creatively utilise the frontage of gardens, allowing for a more efficient and cost-effective installation. The key concern was maintaining the village's visual attraction, known for its lack of visible wires and modern lighting.

21st century connectivity for a historic castle
For the English Heritage technology team remote site connectivity is one of their biggest challenges. Like any modern business, visitor attractions need good connectivity. From ePOS solutions that run tills and payment entry devices, to security systems and connecting laptops to English Heritage’s corporate network, even a 14th century building needs a 21st century internet connection.
Located in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, near Tisbury, Old Wardour Castle’s remote location means that the only connectivity available to the site was a slow and unreliable copper line, insufficient for all the applications needed. However, upgrading to full fibre at a historical site presents significant installation challenges.
